Malik Riaz contempt case: SC appoints new prosecutor
The hearing of the case was adjourned for indefinite period of time.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday appointed senior lawyer Qazi Jamil as prosecutor in place of Attorney General Irfan Qadir in the contempt of court case against real-estate tycoon Malik Riaz, Dunya News reported.A two-judge bench of the apex court headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan rejected a petition filed in the court seeking to add Malik Riaz’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL) and appointed Barrister Mohammad Jamil as the prosecutor in the case.Defence counsel Abdul Basit told bench that his client could not appear in the court today due to health conditions.On which, the court exempted Malik Riaz from appearing in the hearing today.The court adjourned the case hearing for indefinite period of time.
