YDA strike 2011: Punjab concealed commission's report

Punjab govt concealed Justice (r) Saeed-ur-Rehman Farukhs report about doctors strike in 2011.

Several patients died last year due to young doctors’ strike to press their demands after which Advocate Gul Zaman filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court.The complainant took the stance in the petition that a commission should be formed to determine the persons responsible for death of dozens of patients.The Lahore High Court Chief Justice formed a commission headed by Justice (r) Saeed-uz-Zaman Farukh. The young doctors, senior officers and affected people appeared before the commission and recorded their statements. The report and recommendations forwarded by the commission were concealed by the Punjab government.Due to stubbornness of the Punjab government the young doctors are again on strike while the patients are suffering and dozens have lost their lives due to this confrontation.According to Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Dr Javed Akram, the government would have to improve the service structure while the senior professors have said that the Punjab government and the doctors should leave their stubbornness to normalize the present situation.
