(Web Desk) - Rising television actress Maria Malik has opened up about the contrasting realities of Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

In a recent interview to a magazine, Maria reflected on her three-year journey in the industry, shedding light on the opportunities, struggles, and personal boundaries that have shaped her career.

“This place is not unsafe for everyone, but unfortunately, it is not equally safe for everyone either,” Maria remarked, acknowledging darker stories she heard from others despite having a largely positive personal experience.

When Maria entered the industry, she aimed for lead roles. Instead, she was often offered supporting characters, the lead’s friend or sister.

“I used to decline those offers,” she said, explaining how producers would react negatively to her selectiveness. “They behaved as if I had not done anything significant.”

But over time, her persistence paid off. As her work gained recognition, the same production houses that once turned her away began offering her lead roles.

Despite her growing presence on television, Maria noted a lack of constructive feedback in the industry.

“We all work hard and want to know how we’re doing or where we can improve. But unless a drama becomes extremely popular, it doesn’t really get noticed or discussed,” she shared.

Maria attributes her smooth journey to choosing her company carefully and maintaining clear personal boundaries.

She avoids unnecessary socializing and skips events unrelated to work. Her approach is rooted in self-respect and professionalism, which she believes are key to navigating the industry successfully.
