Aaliya's revelations have sparked a debate on social media.
MUMBAI (Web Desk) - Aaliya Siddiqui, the ex-wife of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has opened up about her decision to speak out about their marital disputes publicly. She revealed in an interview that she had no other option but to go public with her grievances.
"I had to talk about these things in public because I was suffering a lot. I felt like I would suffocate if I didn’t," Aaliya said, adding that only she knew the kind of mental agony she had been through. She also said that her career was being affected and that she was not allowed to work.
The former couple has been involved in an ugly legal battle, with Aaliya filing for divorce in May 2020 after 10 years of marriage. In April this year, a local court had ordered the couple's two children to return to Dubai for their studies.
Aaliya, who is a producer, had earlier thanked Nawazuddin for working on her production, Holy Cow. However, she has been vocal about the problems she faced during their marriage, including alleged emotional and physical abuse.
"I took to a public platform because I wanted the media to understand what I was going through. I’ve been going through it for the past 12 years," she said in the interview.
Aaliya's revelations have sparked a debate on social media about the need for women to speak out about their grievances and the importance of listening to them.
