It has been 142 years since Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib a Classic Urdu and Farsi poet, passed away.

Asadullah Baig Khan, better known as Mirza Ghalib was born in Agra on December 1797. Ghalib got married at the age of 13 and moved from Agra to Delhi. As his expenses increased Mirza Ghalib was forced to look for work and he started working at the fort.In 1850, Bahdur Shah Zafar awarded Mirza Ghalib as ‘Najm al-Daulah Dabir al-Mulk Nizam Jung’ and bestowed upon him the responsibility to write the family’s history.Ghalib was a great Urdu writer and is considered the founder of modern prose. The real reason for the everlasting popularity of Ghalib was because of his Khutoot-e-Ghalib and Deewan-e-Ghalib.Mirza Ghalib, a legendary Urdu poet and died on 15th February 1869, leaving behind his vast treasures of poetry.
