LAHORE (Web Desk) - The 64th birth anniversary of legendary poetess Parveen Shakiris being observed today (Thursday).

Parveen was born on November 24, 1952 in Karachi. She was a legendary female poet who started her professional career in her childhood.

She published her first volume of poetry Khushbu in 1976 initially under the pen name of Beena which got great acclaim in the world of poetry.

Her most popular works include her four volumes of poetry: Inkaar, Sad-barg, Khud Kalami and Kaf-e-Aa ina, besides a collection of her newspaper columns, titled Gosha-e-Chashm.

She worked earlier as a lecturer and then became a CSP officer. She was also honoured with Pride of Performance for her outstanding contribution to literature.

She died in a car accident while going for work in 1994.
