Syed Noor accuses Sharmeen Obaid of intellectual theft
Pakistani director has accused the Oscar laureate of stealing the film's idea and script from him
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistani director Syed Noor on Tuesday has accused Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy of stealing from him the idea and the script of her recently Academy Award winning documentary film ‘A Girl in the River’, reported Dunya News.
Noor stated that Chinoy, the two-times Oscar winning director, stole the idea of her latest acclaimed documentary from his film ‘Price of Honour’ which was launched two years back. Further adding, Noor said that had he nominated his production for an Oscar, the movie would have easily received the award.
Chinoy’s production ‘A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness’ was awarded with an Academy Award for the category of Best Short Documentary at the Oscars 2016.
