Educational institutions should engage youth by initiating dialogue, critical thinking: PIPS

“Promoting Narratives of Diversity, Inclusion, and Peace among Youth” was theme of think tank

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Experts at a two-day consultation organised by the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) stressed the need for the state and educational institutions to engage youth by promoting critical thinking and initiating dialogue, to address their problems and make them productive citizens.

The theme of the consultation was “Promoting Narratives of Diversity, Inclusion, and Peace among Youth.”

Participants discussed strategies for incorporating religious and ethnic diversity into the present education system, to improve social skills and multicultural understanding, and called for the creation of economic opportunities for youth through technical and real-life learning.

The discussion also explored the impact of social media on youths’ perceptions of themselves and the world around them. Academics, political activists, journalists, lawyers, representatives of civil society and youth participated in the consultation.

Ms Amna Kausar of the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT), Educationist and writer Dr Amjad Tufail, Professor of Sociology at the University of the Punjab Dr Khalil Ahmad and others expressed their views on the occasion.
