(Web Desk) – Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik on Friday rejected allegations of spot-fixing he faced after delivering three consecutive no balls during a match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

While playing for Fortune Barishal against Khulna Tigers, the player made the no balls, sparking allegations against him. After playing three BPL matches, he left the tournament mid-way and flew to Dubai with media reporting that his contract has been terminated over suspicious bowling.

In a social media post, Malik dismissed the recent rumours circulating about his playing position with Fortune Barishal.

“I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai,” he wrote.

“I extend my best wishes to Fortune Barishal for their upcoming matches and I am available to support them if needs be.”

Strongly refuting the rumours, he urged people to exercise caution.

“It's crucial for everyone to verify information before believing and spreading it. Falsehoods can harm reputations and create unnecessary confusion. Let's prioritise accuracy and rely on credible sources to ensure a clear understanding of the facts,” he added.

Meanwhile, Barishal franchise owner also dismissed the rumours of spot-fixing against Shoaib Malik. He said the player deserved respect.
