Sethi puts ball in government’s court to visit India
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi said on Monday the government would decide about the team s visit to India.
In a statement to the media, Mr Sethi slammed the previous PCB administration, saying he would not change the names of cricket stadiums for the sake of Rs100 million. Mr Sethi stated that bogus statistics about him were shared on PCB s website, adding that he would clear the air after returning to Lahore.
In terms of the management committee s role, Mr Sethi stated unequivocally that the management committee had complete authority over the affairs of the PCB, adding that the real goal of the management committee was to restore the 2014 constitution and that once the department and the elected body were ready, the management committee would be dissolved.
Speaking about Mickey Arthur, Mr Sethi said that during his time as head coach, the team was at the top of the cricketing ranking and, more importantly, the team was observing discipline in the dressing room. It was Mickey Arthur who first backed Babar Azam," added Mr Sethi. He said the PCB consulted Mr Arthur about the selection of the coaching staff, adding that within 10 days, it would be decided who would be inducted into the coaching staff. He said the departmental cricket should support regional cricket in the country.
Heaping praise on Babar Azam, Mr Sethi said Azam was a star of Pakistan, who was ruling millions of hearts. He said had there been no Babar Azam, there would not have been fun in the team.
