PCB is facing criticism regarding the farewell event hosted to honor former captains.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – After successfully hosting the World XI team in historic Independence Cup for revival of international cricket, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing some challenges regarding certain issues.

The National T20 Cup, which had been postponed due to the World XI series, may face further delay owing to the West Indies tour. The event was initially scheduled to be played in two parts from August 25 to 31 in Multan, and from September 4 to 10 in Faisalabad.

National players, who were busy in playing international Twenty20 leagues, were directed to report back to PCB for the domestic tournament but it was postponed till November upon their arrival due to clash in schedule with World XI tour.

The T20 cup could once again be delayed as West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President Dave Cameron has given a hint of allowing his team to tour Pakistan for three Twenty20 internationals (T20Is) after visiting Pakistan during the Independence Cup. These matches are likely to be held in November.

Let it be known that Pakistan are to play Sri Lanka from September 28 to October 29 in a full-fledged series consisting two Tests, five one-day internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is.

The other problem for PCB has arisen in the form of criticism that it is facing regarding the event that it hosted on September 14 to honor former captains Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan.

The broadcasting rights of the ceremony were awarded to only one private channel, and others were deprived of them. It is also being said that the farewell gathering was ‘high-jacked’.

Bringing reforms in women’s cricket team, that lost all matches in this year’s world cup, also remains a tough task for the board as nothing has been done so far.

Former PCB chairman Shahryar Khan had announced to make big changes in the team as well as in the management after the continuous defeats, but not a single official has been changed thus far. On the other hand, sports minister has said that the governing body is trying to appoint a foreign coach for the women’s team.

The legal battle between PCB and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also to be fought for the bilateral series that India have not played with Pakistan as per Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and it also requires great planning and efforts.
