Cricket legends given spectacular welcome at Eden Garden
Cricket giants and others were given a sensational welcome by West Bengal CM (CM) Mamta Banarjee.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Renowned cricket legends including Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younas, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Bollywood’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachan were given a spectacular welcome Saturday at Eden Gardens, Kolkata before the match between archrivals India and Pakistan.
The cricket giants and others were given a sensational welcome by West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamta Banarjee.
Pakistan’s former Captain Imran Khan was the first to be given a roaring reception by the crowd and was presented with a shawl and a bouquet of flowers.
The King of Swing Wasim Akram was up next who was also presented with the same gifts.
The Master of Yorkers and Pakistan team’s Head Coach Waqar Younas was also given a hero’s reception.
After the Pakistan’s side, Indian batting legend Gavaskar was given the same dazzling welcome.
‘Little Master’ Sachin Tendulkar then took the stage much to the excitement of his fans and was presented with gifts and finally amidst deafening cheers by the crowds, Bollywood superstar Amitabh also received his gifts of appreciation.
The ceremony concluded with Banarjee giving a clear message to extremists, saying the players would be provided security anytime they wished to visit Kolkata.
