MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - Samiullah Shenwari top-scored with 58 runs and Najibullah Zadran added 47 as Afghanistan reached 308-9 in its 50 overs after winning the toss in Friday s Cricket World Cup warmup match against the United Arab Emirates.
Asghar Stanikzai, batting fourth, added 33 for the Afghan side. Right-arm medium paceman and allrounder Amjad Javed led the UAE bowlers with 4-39.
Both teams are coming off heavy losses: Afghanistan by 154 runs to India on Tuesday, and the UAE by 188 runs to Australia on Wednesday.
Afghanistan, competing in Pool A, plays its first World Cup match against Bangladesh in Canberra next Wednesday.
The UAE, in Pool B, plays its first match next Thursday against Zimbabwe in Nelson, New Zealand.
