LAHORE – With the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) election tenure now extended to two years from 2022, it has emerged that businessmen Mian Abuzar Shad and Fahimur Rehman Sehgal will share the presidency during this period after securing historic victory in the elections.
The alliance of Piaf, Progressive, and Pioneer has secured a sweeping victory in the LCCI elections for 2024-2026, winning all 30 seats in both the corporate and the associated classes.
Nomination forms for the presidential seat are to be submitted today (Sept 26), and currently, no other candidates have filed nomination forms except for Shad. The election commission is expected to issue a notification tomorrow (Friday).
The same situation applies to the senior vice president and vice president positions, as no one has submitted nomination forms for these slots other than Khalid Usman and Shahid Nazir, respectively.
This historic win sets the stage for the next crucial decision: selecting a president from the 30 successful candidates to lead the chamber for the upcoming term.
Regarding the LCCI presidential role, it is widely anticipated that Mian Abuzar Shad will lead in the first year.
In the second year, Fahimur Rehman Sehgal is expected to take on the presidency.
