Reforms are inevitable to get rid of IMF: Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the country was moving towards economic stability. 

Good news poured in for economy as Fitch ratings upgraded Pakistan's rating. 

"The new IMF loan programme has improved world's confidence in Pakistan. The government is pursuing the agenda of economic stability," the minister stated. 

The country can only be developed through economic reforms and the private sector needs to move forward, he asserted. 

The finance minister further stated that the private sector was being emboldened to play its role in the economy, loss-making State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) would have to be privatised. 

The minister said the government was striving to attract foreign direct investment.
