Islamabad: Recommendation for increase in petrol prices

After increasing the electricity tariff, now the government is planning to drop petrol bomb on the people. Finance Ministry has recommended increasing prices of petroleum products by 10 to 14 rupees per liter.

According to the sources, Finance Ministry has suggested the government to fix prices of petroleum products for the month of March. This suggestion has been made in order to bring back the petroleum levy to the same level as of December. If the present petroleum prices are maintained, then a subsidy of 10 billion rupees will have to be paid. According to Finance Ministry, a subsidy of 15 billion rupees has been paid in last three months. If more subsidies are paid, then the IMF programme will be affected.
