Summary Iran says it repelled aggression and remains on alert as US reports strikes on Iran-linked vessels near Strait of Hormuz.

TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said Iran successfully repelled what he described as last night’s aggression.

Speaking to media in Tehran, he termed the incident a violation of international law, the United Nations Charter and ceasefire commitments.

He said it was not the first such incident, adding that Iranian security forces responded with full force, inflicted damage on the adversary and forced the aggression to retreat.

Baghaei stated that although a ceasefire appears to be holding, Iranian armed forces remain fully prepared and are closely monitoring the situation, warning that they will respond with full strength if necessary.

Responding to a question, he said Iran had neutralised the aggression from the previous night and strongly condemned reported attacks on Iranian-flagged oil tankers by the United States.

Separately, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported intermittent clashes between Iranian armed forces and US naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday.

The US military claimed it targeted two vessels linked to Iran that were attempting to enter a port, stating that a fighter jet struck their funnels and prevented them from entering Iranian waters.
