(Web Desk) – In what appears to be a plot out of a twisted murder movie, an Indian woman and her lover have been accused of killing the woman’s husband and later seeking cosmetic surgery so that the male lover could take his place.

Police in the southern state of Telangana, India stated that after the couple murdered the husband, a staged acid attack was carried out where acid was poured on the face of the lover in a bid to say that it was the husband and that his face had been transformed.

According to the BBC, the parents of the husband believed the acid attack story and even agreed to pay the hospital bills for the treatment and surgery. However, the brother of the husband suspected a plot when he visited the hospital following which he contacted the police, which carried out finger print tests and found the discrepancy.

The brother has filed a police complaint against the lovers accusing them of murder. The police have arrested the wife, Swati Reddy while the lover, Rajesh Ajjakolu will also be arrested after he is treated for acid burns and is discharged from the hospital.

Sudhakar Reddy, the husband, was allegedly killed on the night of November 26 and his body was disposed the next day. The body of the deceased has not yet been found by officials.

Police stated that Swati Reddy, the wife, has already confessed that the pair killed the husband.

On November 28, Rajesh Ajjakolu was admitted to the hospital with acid burns. With a false story, Swati Reddy informed her in laws that it was her husband who was attacked with acid.

BBC reported that police said the parents of Reddy believed that the man, who was brought into the hospital and was being treated for the acid burns, was their son and paid up to 500,000 Indian rupees in hospital bills.
