(Web Desk) – Two Muslim cousins Jameel Mukhtar, 37, and Resham Khan, 21, became the victims of an unprovoked acid attack, in east London on June 21. Jameel remains seriously injured.

Resham Khan, an aspiring model was celebrating her 21st birthday when she and her cousin were attacked near east London. Khan, who is from Manchester said she has had skin grafts and wondered whether her life would ever be the same again. The 21-year-old came to London with her cousin to celebrate her birthday.

Khan after her attack has been actively using social media to express her experiences and the progress of her skin grafting and how she’s coping with her life changing experience. The business student has been blogging about her make-up and beauty routine since the incident.

She wrote on her blog talking about the mental “ups and downs”, and physically dealing with the demands of skin grafts, and how she has to wear special clothes to “prevent scars”.

According to BBC, she posted her first recovery photo of celebrating Eid since the incident. The pictures were shared in Britain’s national media. Khan explained the hard work and what it took to prepare for the pictures she posts of herself with make up.

She wrote on her blog, "You have all seen me at my worst, so at least let me show you when I m looking good.

"For me that would be when my eye looks normal. The skin colour I can deal with, the scarring I can cover or treat.

"There are options for me. However, I have been taking photos all the time, so maybe one day I ll be able to share the timeline of physical recovery."

On her blog the 21-year-old posted, "First of all I just wanted to make clear that what you see on the internet isn t real”.

"The images you saw were the result of me finally deciding to try on a full face of makeup. In terms of applying make-up, it has become so much harder."

In her blog she also explained how hard it is for her to use makeup on one side of her face which hurts.

"As my skin is tough, mixing lipsticks is difficult. My eyebrows have been burnt and grow a bit funny so they were proving difficult, so I just shaded them rather than trying to shape them into anything fancy," she continued. She had previously revealed that she is advised not to pluck her brows.

But it did make her feel like herself again.

"I got those mushy emotional tears of happiness. I looked in the mirror and I felt like I looked like the old me again."

Khan received many support, wishes and compliments from her followers on social media.

She previously spoke of Katie Piper as the source of her inspiration who was also a victim of an acid attack. Piper received massive burns due to acid thrown at her face.

Resham besides blogging on her recovery has been lobbying the UK’s government to discuss acid attacks in parliament.

She has received 35 MPs in her support including the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick who has also pledged to look into the issue in London.

A petition to stop the purchase of acid without a license has also been made in Resham s name and so far has over half a million signatures.

John Tomlin, 25, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. He is due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court in November.
