Indians enraged after receiving shoes from China in tri-colour boxes
Indian flag was depicted on the shoe boxes which sparked furore in the neighbouring country
(Web Desk) – Several Indians were enraged after receiving imported shoes from China in tri-colour boxes that depicted the Indian flag. The incident occurred in Almora municipality of Uttarakhand.
Local shopkeers in Almora claimed to receive imported shoes from China in boxes depicting Indian flag and doubt certain Chinese people across the border were involved in the disgraceful act. There were also some letters written in Mandarin placed in those tri-colour boxes.
According to Indian reports, Almora SSP P Renuka Devi called it a deliberate insult to the Indian flag and ordered investigation into the matter. Police believe that the act aimed at hurting the sentiments of Indian in view of the ongoing Doklam standoff between the two neighbours at border area. They have filed a complaint on the request of shopkeeper Bishan Bora who claimed that only seven shoe pairs were boxed properly while other pairs came in boxes printed with Indian flag.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Lalit Latwal has also asked the police to punish those involved. He called it a conspiracy and directed BJP workers to stay alert of such issues. Keep an eye on those involved and not arrested, he told.
Indian traders of imported shoes from China have been questioned in this regard. Police are trying to trace the importers who brought the fortified boxes.
