Pakistani mother wins title Masterchef 2017 in UK

(Web Desk) - A Pakistan-origin doctor and mother of one made it big by winning BBC’s Masterchef title. She inspired the judges with her “East meets West” menu featuring the traditional food of Pakistan.

Saliha Mahmood belongs from Watford. She competed with 64 other aspirant cooks and stood the victor. Facing difficulty to contest in the first place, she somehow managed to swap shifts with colleagues in order to showcase her talent in the reality TV programme.

John Torode and Gregg Wallace were the two judges who converged on naming Saliha Mahmood as the winner. Torode remarked, “She s walked in here and taken her food culture apart and put it back together in a modern and very exciting way".

And Wallace also praised her saying, "(East meets West is) simply stunning - beautiful art on a plate".

The 29-year-old specialist in gastroenterology always had love for cooking as well as recommending dietary habits to people. Her dream is to write cookbooks and help others tackle obesity.

She was really happy at her triumph and admitted that it was the coolest thing she had ever done in her life.

Saliha Mahmood had a tough time managing her cooking hobby with the 13-hour long shift. "I m from a big Pakistani family and we use food as a way of bringing everyone together," she said while adding that her mother was a real inspiration and her family supported her throughout the journey.
