Pakistani worker, Saudi minor killed in Qatif terror attack

Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman said that workers were at the site when militants attacked them.

JEDDAH (Web Desk) - A two-year-old Saudi minor and a Pakistani expatriate killed whereas 14 others, including four security persons, sustained severe injuries as militants opened firing on workers and passersby at a development project site in Al-Masourah district of Al-Awamiyah in Qatif governorate, reported Saudi Gazette.

Security spokesman to Saudi Ministry of Interior, Major General Mansour Al-Turki confirmed the attack and said that it took place on Wednesday following the terrorists’ attempt to interrupt construction of a development project in Al-Masourah. He said that workers were at the site when militants attacked them.



“They started heavy fire and used improvised devices targeting the machinery used for work. When the security forces launched an operation to track down the terrorists who used the abandoned houses in the neighborhood as their hideout, they started firing indiscriminately at the passersby and the security forces, resulting in the casualties,” the spokesman said.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that six Saudis and four expatriates - two Pakistanis, one Indian and Sudanese each were among those injured whereas the condition of one Saudi and the Indian are critical.
