The suspected militant who will be deported from Russia is wanted on terrorism charges.


Uzbekistan has issued an international arrest warrant for Ikromzhon Mamazhonov, an Uzbek national, who is the suspected founder of the Islamic Jihad Union, a militant group believed active in Afghanistan.


The US government allegedly describes the IJU as a Pakistan-based extremist group that opposes secular rule in Uzbekistan and has been linked with terrorist plots in Germany.


Russian prosecutors say Mamazhonov was detained June in the Orenburg province in central Russia while traveling on a train to Kyrgyzstan, which borders Uzbekistan.
