MICHIGAN (Web Desk) - Lake Michigan in North America on Thursday piled up a lake of ice shards as spring arrived.
Lake Michigan has been frozen for most of winter as the effect of polar vortex which has brought below-freezing temperatures to the parts of United States of America (USA).
Temperature reached -30C during the peak of cold front which formed ice shards on the Lake Michigan. It froze the waves crashing at the existing ice piles.

But the recent thawing of the Great Lake has resulted in the sheets of ice breaking and ice shards being pushed to the surface.

As it gives a perfect place for photos, the US coast guard has advised to see the scene from afar as it is not safe to go on the unstable surface of ice.
“No ice is safe ice especially this time of year,” US Coast Guard BMC Grant Heffner said. “The ice is certainly deteriorating and breaking up.”
