India aims to make domestic microchips by end of 2024 -FT

  LAHORE(Web Desk) - India will break ground next month on its first semiconductor assembly plant and begin producing its first domestically manufactured microchips by the end of 2024, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.

India's information technology minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said Micron Technology would start construction in August on a $2.75 billion chip assembly and test facility in Gujarat, the newspaper reported.

The microchip industry is currently facing turbulence due to an on-going tussle between big-wigs, the chip export restriction by China is raising tensions in the global atmosphere and the countries tend to look for alternative sources, preferably local ones. United States also shown interest in Chip Financing in Sweden to diversify its supplies. 

Since the start of US-China tension the semi-conducter industry has seen prevenlant distortions, however in this regard Taiwan being one of the main chip producers have garnered alot of importance in International sphere. The Indian diversification is anticiapted to substantially alter the industry's dynamics.
