Year 2017 in Search: Top 10 most googled personalities in Pakistan
Google's Year in Search provides a sneak peek into the most searched trends, people and happenings
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Google has unveiled its annual Year in Search, a tool which contains the catalogue of yearlong worldwide searching trends. Accordingly, it has also captured the interests of the Pakistani users throughout 2017 vis-à-vis events, personalities and topics.
The list of most googled people in Pakistan during 2017 encapsulates some expected and some very unexpected figures, who are ranked as following:
1. Fabiha Sherazi
Fabiha has been appearing on Fahad Mustafa’s game show “Jeeto Pakistan” for quite some time now. But she rose to sudden fame in early 2017, thanks to her persistence presence on photo sharing app Instagram. And who would have thought that she would go on to top the Google searching chart at the year’s end.
2. Nadeem Sarwar
Renowned Shiite poet and Noha reciter Nadeem Sarwar secured second place in the list of most googled persons, courtesy his impressive oeuvre comprising Nohas in a wide range of languages.
3. Fakhar Zaman
The Pakistan Cricket Team batting sensation Fakhar Zaman clinched third position in this all exciting list. His man of the match performance in Champions Trophy final against India made him a superstar overnight, prompting people to flock to Google to find out his whereabouts.
4. Rishi Kapoor
An otherwise innocuous Bollywood actor, Shishi Kapoor invited the furore of Pakistani fans when he tweeted perforating remarks against team Pakistan just before the biggest match of the year: Pakistan v India in Champions Trophy final. He soon became the focal point of cricketing discourse and people felt it pertinent to ask Google about Rishi Kapoor’s views.
5. Rida Isfahani
Rida, a fledgling TV actress, kept alluring her fans towards her on Google throughout the year, until her name emerged at an impressive fifth spot in most googled people list.
6. Faryal Makhdoom
The lady never ceases to amaze the world through her maverick views and equally bold outlook. Her nasty altercation on twitter with husband Amir Khan in September further elevated her rank in the most popular celebrities around, propelling her to number six in this list.
7. Javed Afridi
Securing 7th spot in this list is testament to the fact that the Peshawar Zalmi owner continues to arouse people’s interest by virtue of his ubiquitous presence on social media and high profile events. Javed Afridi also kept his promise of making Zalmi’s foreign players play PSL final in Lahore.
8. Ahad Raza Mir
Ahad’s role as a doctor in TV serial “Yakeen Ka Safar” made him immensely popular among the audience in general and his female fans in particular, earning him 8th place on most googled list.
9. Hania Amir
Ever since making her debut in film “Janaan”, Hania has been Pakistan’s heart-throb. From her eccentric dub mash videos on Instagram to her regular appearance on films and TV serials, she knows how to keep her fans on their toes. And she does it quite successfully, as her presence on this list suggests.
10. Momina Mustehsan
After conquering year 2016 through her Coke Studio performances, Momina made 2017 count as well, this time for more diverse reasons. She appeared on BBC’s list of hundred most influential women, ignited Coke Studio’s stage with Daniyal Zafar and diligently cheered for Islamabad United in PSL2. Fans then rewarded her with incessantly typing her name on Google search box.
Searches and news were two other Top 10 categories apart from personalities in the Year in Search list. ICC Champions Trophy remained top searching trend in Pakistan’s Google’s world in both categories.
In top 10 searches list, WWE extreme rules and Bollywood blockbuster Dangal came second and third, respectively. While The Kapil Sharma Show and the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme were ranked second and third in the news domain. In the outgoing year, Pakistanis also took keen interest in Burma issue as well as Mahira Khan’s Raees.
