Inquiry report finds administrative lapses by Pakistan Hockey Federation caused travel delays, extra expenses and accommodation issues during national team’s recent Australia tour, officials say.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – An inquiry report prepared by the Pakistan Sports Board regarding the Pakistan hockey team’s tour of Australia has been forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to sources, the PSB inquiry committee held the Pakistan Hockey Federation responsible for administrative shortcomings. The report highlights alleged mismanagement in accommodation arrangements during the tour.
Sources said the national team was scheduled to depart from Lahore on February 2 and arrive in Hobart on February 4. However, delays and errors in visa applications by PHF reportedly led to the cancellation of scheduled flights.
As a result, the PSB had to bear an additional expense of Rs271 million for new tickets, while further visa processing issues caused an extra financial burden of Rs97 million.
The report further revealed that 49,280 Australian dollars were released in advance to PHF for hotel accommodation, including booking of 12 double and two single rooms. However, the team did not stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel despite advance payment.
Sources added that players were given a daily allowance of 115 US dollars per person, along with approximately 3,000 US dollars for additional expenses.
The team eventually departed on February 5 and reached Hobart on February 7, while alternative accommodation arrangements were made for players from February 6 to 14.
