WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for an immediate halt to ceasefire violations in Gaza, saying sustained peace in the region depends on full adherence to the truce.
Addressing a meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace on Thursday, the prime minister stressed that lasting stability in Gaza requires all parties to uphold the ceasefire in letter and spirit.
“For durable peace in Gaza, violations of the ceasefire must stop,” he said.
PM Sharif also praised US President Donald Trump for what he described as a constructive role in resolving conflicts.
He credited the US president’s timely intervention with preventing escalation between Pakistan and India, claiming that Trump’s efforts helped avert a full-scale war between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
“President Trump’s intervention stopped the Pakistan-India war and saved thousands of precious lives,” the premier said, adding that the US leader had effectively shielded South Asia from large-scale destruction.

Turning to the Middle East, Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause.
He said that the Palestinian people must be granted their full and legitimate rights to their homeland, emphasizing that the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state is essential for sustainable peace in the region.
“The creation of a free and sovereign Palestinian state is indispensable for durable peace,” he said, urging the international community to act in accordance with relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
The prime minister described the current moment as a potentially “golden chapter” in history for peace efforts in the Middle East, provided that meaningful steps are taken to ensure justice and stability.
