Intelligence agencies have alerted the Punjab government against potential suicide bombings, following which the authorities instructed law enforcement agencies to beef up security across the provincial metropolis. Police have conducted raids in the areas of Township and Manga Mandi.According to sources, an unidentified person called at a police station and warned of potential terrorism during Friday prayers after which the authorities directed law enforcement agencies to initiate search operations and put the city on high alert. Large contingents of security personnel in plainclothes have been deployed at all sensitive installations and important landmarks across the provincial metropolis. Security has been beefed up at all crowded places, congested markets and shopping plazas, bus terminals, railway stations, cinemas, theaters, churches, hotels and imambargahs. A number of suspected people have also been arrested.
