Summary Security forces killed 13 militants while foiling two infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to ISPR.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Thirteen militants were killed in the past two days, as security forces foiled two separate infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing shared on Thursday.

The incidents took place in the border districts of Mohmand District and North Waziristan District, where troops intercepted groups attempting to cross into Pakistani territory.

In Mohmand, security forces detected the movement of a group of militants attempting to infiltrate through the porous frontier. Troops engaged the group promptly, leading to an exchange of fire, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). Officials said eight militants were killed during what was described as a precise and coordinated operation carried out by ground units.

In a separate incident in North Waziristan, another group attempted to breach the border. Security forces responded swiftly, engaging the infiltrators in what was reported to be an intense firefight. Five militants were killed during the operation, effectively halting the infiltration attempt.

The back-to-back incidents highlight ongoing security challenges along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, a region that has witnessed repeated attempts by armed groups to cross into Pakistani territory. Officials reiterated concerns over cross-border movement of militants and emphasised the need for effective border management.

Authorities also stressed that the Afghan side must take measures to prevent the use of its territory for activities that threaten regional stability. Pakistan has consistently called for stronger coordination and enforcement to curb cross-border infiltration and militant activity.

Following the engagements, sanitisation operations were launched in both districts to ensure that no remaining militants were present in the surrounding areas. Security officials said these operations aim to secure the region and prevent any regrouping or further attempts at infiltration.

The developments come amid Pakistan’s broader counter-terrorism campaign under the framework of Azm-e-Istehkam, which focuses on dismantling militant networks and strengthening internal security. Officials noted that operations by security forces and law enforcement agencies continue across sensitive areas to address evolving threats.

Security forces maintained that they remain committed to safeguarding the country’s borders and responding decisively to any threats, with ongoing efforts to detect and neutralise militant activity along frontier regions.
