ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Afghanistan has assured Pakistan that Afghan territory will not be allowed to be used by any terrorist group against Pakistan or any other country.

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister met Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, on the sidelines of the 6th Pakistan-China-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue in Kabul.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive headway in bilateral relations. They welcomed the recent decision to upgrade diplomatic representation from Chargé d’Affaires to full Ambassadors – an understanding reached at the May 21, 2025, trilateral meeting in Beijing.

Referring to earlier meetings – including the Deputy PM’s visits to Kabul on April 19 and July 17, 2025, and the Beijing talks on May 21 – the two sides noted that most of the decisions taken in these sittings have either been implemented or are near completion.

“These steps have significantly strengthened Pakistan-Afghanistan ties, particularly in trade and transit,” the statement added.

While appreciating the encouraging progress in political and trade relations, Pakistan’s Deputy PM stressed that much more needs to be done in the field of national security, especially counterterrorism.

He pointed to recent terror attacks in Pakistan carried out by groups operating from Afghan soil, urging Kabul to take concrete and verifiable steps against outfits such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) Majeed Brigade.

In response, the Afghan Acting Foreign Minister assured that Afghanistan’s territory will not be allowed to be used by any terrorist group against Pakistan or any other country.

At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked Afghan authorities for their warm hospitality and congratulated them on the successful hosting of the trilateral dialogue.
