KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province on Saturday, August 9, in connection with the annual Urs celebrations of revered Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

According to the notification, all government offices and educational institutions under the Sindh government will remain closed on the day.

The three-day annual Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai is observed every year starting from 14th Safar, attracting thousands of devotees from across the country.

The three-day ceremony of the Urs will begin with poetry recitations, literary conferences, and other activities to celebrate the poetry of the saint.

Tight security arrangements have been made on the occasion. CCTV cameras have been installed while devotees will enter the shrine after passing walkthrough gates placed at all entry points.
