Woman will be presented in front of JIT where statement will be recorded
LAHORE (Dunya News) – A Lahore police team on Tuesday arrested a woman from Karachi who masqueraded as being mother of the alleged rape victim in a private college scandal.
The woman was brought back to Lahore from Karachi. A case was registered in Gulberg police station under the newly enacted Peca Act by the Punjab government.
The woman will be presented in front of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) where her statement will be recorded.
According to police, total number of the cases involving spread of fake news in the alleged scandal had reached four.
Meanwhile, the JIT found that the social media page which first disseminated the fake rape story was created on the very same day and a college student shared a misleading video invloving story of another girl who was injured and admitted to a hospital.
Moreover, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) found more than 950 online pages which proliferated lies without verifying news.
