LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is set to convene a parliamentary session today to discuss matters related to government formation in Punjab, following deliberations on the central and Balochistan.

A delegation from the Pakistan Peoples’ Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, met with PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif at Ishaq Dar's residence in Islamabad. Ahsan Iqbal, Murad Ali Shah, and Qamar Zaman Kaira were also present at the meeting.

After multiple consultations, PML-N and PPP have decided to form a coalition government. Shehbaz Sharif is slated to assume the role of Prime Minister, while Asif Ali Zardari will take over as President.

The parties have also decided that the Speaker of the National Assembly will be from PML-N, while PPP will preside over the Senate Chairmanship. However, PPP has affirmed that it will not be a part of the federal cabinet.

The deputy speaker of the National Assembly will be from PPP, and PML-N will select the deputy chairman of the Senate. The offices of the governors of Sindh and Balochistan will be held by PML-N.

While the governor of Punjab will be appointed from PPP, with Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N senior vice president would serve as the chief minister of Punjab.

Sources indicated that the government in Balochistan will also be formed through alliances. PML-N has granted PPP the authority to nominate the chief minister of Balochistan from its party. T

he Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) will also be part of the alliance in the province, with the speaker of Balochistan being from the BAP party.

The PML-N parliamentary meeting will take place at Jatti Umra in Lahore, presided over by Maryam Nawaz, the nominated candidate for the chief minister of Punjab. Newly elected party candidates from the Punjab Assembly will participate in the meeting, focusing on matters related to the Punjab Assembly. 

As per sources, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman would be speaker of Punjab Assembly from PML-N side.
