Standing committee recommends suspension of new hirings in Radio Pakistan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Standing Committee on Information Monday recommended immediate suspension of new hirings in Radio Pakistan.
The committee also sought complete information about the recently hired 53 officials. It has also instructed the Federal Information Secretary to constitute a committee to probe this matter.
The information minister said that recruitment of technical staff within the state media is critical for implementing necessary reforms. He emphasised the importance of legislators and politicians contributing to the reform agenda of state-owned media.
The Radio Pakistan DG said 750 employees were rehired adding that the salaries of these employees have yet to be disbursed. Furthermore, 53 individuals hired in the IT department have not received their salaries.
Irfan Siddiqui expressed concern that Radio Pakistan is exercising forced labour as salaries remain due.
