Marriyum said those involved in attacking military installations will be tried by military courts.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday said military installations, and public and private properties were attacked along with desecration of memorials of martyrs and Ghazis on May 9 under a “well thought-out plan” which came under purview of “sedition and treason”.

“Imran Khan is the mastermind of instigating armed groups who attacked sensitive military and civilian installations and desecrated the memorials of Ghazis and martyrs on May 9,” the minister said while addressing a news conference.

She said it was decided in the meeting of the National Security Committee yesterday that May 9 would be observed as “Black Day” every year to condemn those who had attacked the country.

“What the armed groups of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did on May 9, the arch enemy of Pakistan could not dare to do in 75 years history,” she added.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that irrefutable evidence has been collected against the perpetrators, abettors and inciters of violence on May 9 and they will be tried under relevant civil and military laws.

She said there are clear directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that no injustice will be done to anyone, however those against whom evidence is found will be made example.

The Minister said those involved in ransacking or attacking the civilian institutes or installations will be tried under the relevant civil laws while those involved in attacking the military installations will be tried by military courts.

She said Imran Khan is the mastermind of all this mayhem who destabilized the country with his poor policies during his tenure, disrupted the entire social fabric through polarization, and today, he is instigating violence and hatred.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the nation today stands at a decisive juncture where political instability is fomenting economic instability and we have to say no to politics of violence, hatred and polarization.

She said the media and civil society must differentiate politics and violence and 'say no to 9 May' should be everyone's slogan.

Recalling the incidents of 9 May, the Minister said it was open war against the country the way violent PTI workers attacked memorials of our heroes and historic building of Radio Pakistan, the voice that announced the creation of our country.

She said PTI has challenged writ of the state and it is government's duty to give justice to the students whose schools were burned, to the patients who were dragged out of hospitals and ambulances and the families of martyrs whose feelings were hurt.
