Fawad asks Sanaullah, CEC, to resign

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that negotiations with the political opponents will be held under the framework of elections.

The former federal minister made his remarks in Dunya News’ talk show, during which he said, "It is a defeat for every citizen of the country that the elections are not taking place".

"The government has to implement the Supreme Court’s order in line with the holding of Punjab Assembly elections. If the implementation does not happen, the country will plunge into crisis," he added.

"We are moving court at the end of the interim setup’s tenure. We have prepared a petition in this regard," Mr Chaudhry stated.

"The parliament was of the view that it has been elected, and now elections will not be held. The incumbent government has no concern for the country’s image", lamented Mr Chaudhry.

Citing the statements of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, Mr Chaudhry asked the interior minister and chief election commissioner to resign.

He made it clear that if the stakeholders of the country will not play a role in holding the elections, then the masses will have to fight for their rights.

Pointing out Article-187 of the Constitution, Mr Chaudhry said, "The SC can issue any order under Article-187."

"In terms of conflict between the judges, bogus news is being spread. It is up to the apex court to check from which WhatsApp number, the news surfaced," Mr Chaudhry maintained.

In connection with negotiating with the opponents, Mr Chaudhry said, "The PTI has imposed no conditions on holding dialogue. But the negotiations will be held merely under the framework of elections."
