Alkhidmat Foundation launched emergency response after devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria

(Web Desk) - Alkhidmat Foundation in collaboration with Turkish partner organizations is responding on the ground in quake-hit areas of Turkiye and Syria by distributing hot meals, blankets, mattresses and shelter tents to the victims. A seven-member medical team of Alkhidmat is also leaving for Tukiye.


Immediately after a devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria, an emergency meeting of the Central Board of Management of Alkhidmat Foundation was held at Alkhidmat Complex, Lahore presided by President Alkhidmat Prof. Dr Hafeez Ur Rahman. The Central Board of Management of Alkhidmat expressed its deepest sadness at the loss of life and the destruction of property. And expressed its condolences to the families of victims as well as to the people and Government, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. President Alkhidmat Prof. Dr Hafeez Ur Rahman expressed his solidarity and announced all along support for the suffering brothers and sisters in Turkiye and Syria.


While sharing the details of Alkhidmat’s response, President Prof. Dr Hafeez Ur Rehman said that Alkhidmat in collaboration with Turkish partner organizations is responding on the ground in quake-hit areas of Turkiye and Syria by distributing hot meals, blankets, mattresses and shelter tents to the victims. In addition, a seven-member medical team of Alkhidmat is also leaving for Tukiye, consisting of two orthopaedic surgeons, one general surgeon, two anesthesiologists, one operation theatre technician and one nursing team member. The medical team will also carry necessary equipment and medicines with them for continuing medical operations in the earthquake-affected areas for the next two to three weeks, he explained.


Referring towards people-to-people fraternity and Muslim brotherhood, President Alkhidmat Prof. Dr Hafeez Ur Rehman said that Turkiye and Syria are our Muslim brother countries. Whenever there was an emergency in Pakistan, the brothers and sisters from Turkiye generously helped us, now it is our retrospective duty to support them in this hour of difficulty, he urged. Currently, the earthquake-affected areas are also experiencing extreme cold and medical aid including hot meals, shelter tents, mattresses and warm clothes are urgently needed, he identified.


Alkhidmat Foundation is in constant contact with the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan, the Turkish charity organization ‘TIKA’ and the Turkish Red Crescent and will continue to provide all possible assistance to the earthquake victims as a gesture of goodwill. Alkhidmat Foundation representative in Turkiye; Umar Farooq, is present on the ground and is continuously corresponding to the needs, he concluded.
