PTI nominates Asad Umar for NA-54 by-polls
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday nominated Asad Umar for contesting National Assembly (NA) by-polls in NA-54 Islamabad III.
Mr Umar subsequently filed nomination papers for the slot. He replaced PTI chief Imran Khan for the elections as Mr Khan had, earlier, decided against contesting the NA by-polls. The polling will take place on March 16. The NA seats went vacant after the NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf accepted the resignations tendered by 43 PTI MNAs.
Mr Umar had won the elections in the constituency in the 2018 general election by securing 56945 votes, however, he resigned from the assembly after Mr Khan was ousted as Prime Minister.
