PTA directs telecom operators to continue operations amid power outage
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday directed the telecom operators to continue operations of network sites as power outage has caused disruption in services provided by around 3200 telecom towers.
PTA spokesperson said that telecom operators should ensure the uninterrupted the supply of fuel for maximum sites and keep their consumers informed of the ongoing situation. “The services will restore as the country gets brighter again”, he added.
Earlier, a massive power breakdown disrupted cellular services of telecommunication companies in various parts of the country.
The electricity supply is unavailable to people in various cities of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab since 7:34am today when transmission lines between Jamshoro and Dadu developed technical faults.

Taking to social media platforms, users have complained of receiving no or weak signals on their mobile phones as the electricity could not be restored for the last eight hours. The cellular companies are yet to confirm the disruption in services.
The outage has also affected operations at hospitals, courts and government offices.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Khurram Dastagir said it was not a major fault and the power supply across the country would be restored by 10pm.
