'Real surprise' for opposition alliance, Elahi roars after obtaining trust vote

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi thanked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) lawmakers for reposing confidence in him during vote of confidence in the Punjab Assembly on Thursday.
Speaking at the floor of the House after obtaining the vote of confidence, Parvez Ealhi said that the constitutional and legal process has been completed in the Punjab Assembly and added that this was the real surprise for the PML-N-led opposition alliance.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi also thanked Bilal Warraich, an independent Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Toba Tek Singh, who joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) last week and announced support for Chief Minister Parvez Elahi in the vote of confidence.
Bilal Warraich s joining the PTI completed the magic number of 186 members required for vote of confidence.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has obtained vote of confidence from Punjab Assembly during a special session of the provincial assembly in the wee hours of Thursday.
Days after the political turmoil in Punjab heightened last month when the ruling coalition in the centre decided to remove CM Elahi in a bid to stop the dissolution of the assembly, polling for Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi s vote of confidence was held at the Punjab Assembly.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan chaired the session in which PTI leader and Member Punjab Assembly Mian Aslam Iqbal tabled a resolution expressing confidence in the Chief Minister.
As per details, 186 members of ruling coalition reposed confidence in leadership of Chief Minister while opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) boycotted the session.
