Party wants Nawaz Sharif to be next candidate for premiership: Ishaq Dar

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday that the entire party wanted Nawaz Sharif to be the party’s candidate for the premiership in the upcoming general election.

In an interview with Dunya News program "On The Front With Kamran Shahid", Dar said Imran Khan came into politics through the deal, adding that when Imran came to Lahore Chamber of Commerce for Shaukat Khanum fund raising , in the presence of journalist Hamid Mir, he invited Imran to join the PML-N but he refused by saying that he would never come into politics.

"We have seen PTI’s 126-day sit-in when President Xi postponed his visit to Pakistan due to Imran Khan’s ego because his priority is not the country’s interest, but his own interest," Dar added.

Regarding the COAS appointment, he said that there is nothing in the constitution that states the opposition must be consulted in the appointment of the army chief, adding that it is the prime minister’s responsibility and he is the only one who will decide.

Commenting on Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan, Dar said the lifetime disqualification of Nawaz Sharif does not meet any standard in the world, adding that PM Shehbaz Sharif and the entire party wanted Nawaz Sharif to be the party’s candidate for the premiership in the upcoming general election.

"The dollar can be artificially kept for a week, not for four years, and we will bring the dollar below Rs200. I have been dealing with the IMF for 25 years, and now again I will deal with the IMF, and no one needs to worry," he added.

"I have good relations with Miftah Ismail, and he should also relax, I have an alternative plan to provide relief to the masses," Ishaq Dar said.
