JCP meeting over appointment of judges in SHC postponed
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) was postponed due to majority vote on appointment of 7 additional judges in Sindh High Court.
The meeting the JCP chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial failed to reach consensus on the appointment of seven judges in the Sindh High Court (SHC). The Chief Justice presided over the meeting through video link.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa attended the meeting through video link from Spain. The meeting. The meeting considered the names of 3 district courts and 4 lawyers for additional judges.
The names of Amjad Ali Bohio Sessions Judge, Rashid Solangi Judge ATC, Saad Qureshi Sessions Judge, Arbab Hakro Advocate, Abdul Rehman Advocate, Khurram Rashid Advocate and Khadim Hussain Soomro Advocate were considered. Later, by a majority vote, the meeting of the JCP was ended after failing to reach consensus.
Amendments to the Judicial Commission Rules were also discussed in the meeting.
