NCOC announces to lift lockdown in Sindh from Aug 9
NCOC appreciated the rate of vaccination in Sindh.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) on Saturday announced to lift lockdown, enforced amid surge in coronavirus cases, in Sindh from August 9.
The Sindh Home Department had issued a notification of closure of government institutions till August 8 in the wake of coronavirus lockdown, under which all government offices under the Sindh government were announced to be closed from July 31 to August 8.
The NCOC joint session was held in Karachi participated by Chairman NCOC Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, National Coordinator Lieutenant General Hamood-Uz-Zaman Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM)
Health Dr Faisal Sultan and Sindh government team lead by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The forum lauded Sindh government’s efforts for increasing vaccination across the province.
The meeting decided to lift lockdown in the province, however, it was also decided to tighten the implementation of SOPs in the high rate areas of coronavirus.
The decision to open schools and conduct examinations in Sindh will be taken at a meeting of inter-provincial education ministers. The meeting also appreciated the rate of vaccination in Sindh.
The meeting also decided that in view of the Muharram and end of lockdown, coronavirus SOPs should be strictly implemented and smart lockdown would be implemented to control Covid-19 in 13 cities including Karachi and Hyderabad.
It was also decided to strictly implement coronavirus SOPs among the citizens.
On the other hand, Pakistan had reported 95 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,063,125. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 23,797.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 4,720 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Province-wise Details
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 11,172 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,168 in Sindh, 4,524 in KP, 811 in Islamabad, 641 in Azad Kashmir, 331 in Balochistan, and 150 in GB.
Furthermore 396,918 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 362,557 in Punjab, 147,452 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 90,093 in Islamabad, 31,069 in Balochistan, 26,421 in Azad Kashmir and 8,615 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Tests and Recoveries
Pakistan has so far conducted 16,393,404 coronavirus tests and 57,233 in the last 24 hours 959,491 patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,275 patients are in critical condition.
