NCOC directs to keep educational institutions closed in covid hotspot districts

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Saturday directed the federal and the provincial governments to keep the educational institutions closed till June 6 in COVID-19 hotspot districts.
The NCOC said that a meeting will be held on June 3 to decide about reopening of the institutions from June 7. The educational institutions in areas with less than five percent coronavirus positivity ratio will reopen on May 24.
It is pertinent here to mention that the Punjab government on Friday announced that schools in 16 districts of the province will reopen from Monday, May 24.
Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas took to the twitter to share the notification saying, public and private schools in Punjab’s selected districts will operate only four days a week.
He said that the schools will be allowed to call students on alternate days with 50 percent attendance.
The notification said that in the first phase, schools in Bahawalnagar, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Sahiwal, Chakwal, Jhelum, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, Kasur, Pakpattan, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, Rajanpur, and Vehari would be opened.
