LAHORE (Dunya News) - Keeping in view the current situation of covid-19, the government imposed complete lockdown in Lahore, Islamabad and other several cities on Saturday and Sunday (May 22 and 23).

According to details, inter-city and inter-provincial transport will also remain suspended; however, essential shops including petrol pumps and dairy shops are allowed to remain open.

It merits mention that Pakistan has reported 88 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 897,468. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 20,177 on Saturday.

According to the latest figures by the NCOC 4,007 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 9,739 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,891 in Sindh, 3,900 in KP, 744 in Islamabad, 526 in Azad Kashmir, 270 in Balochistan, and 107 in GB.
