PM Imran challenges opposition to table no-confidence motion
The prime minister said he is ready to respond to all questions in the parliament
SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that he had not backed away from the national dialogue and if the opposition wants to change the government, it should bring a no-confidence motion.
Talking to media in Sialkot on Wednesday, he said that parliament is the best place for political dialogues and he is ready to respond to all questions in the parliament.
Democracy would only work when there is a debate, he said.
The prime minister said that the biggest challenge for the government was to steer the country of crisis, adding that his government had inherited historical deficits in every sector.
Imran Khan went on to say that the previous rulers had left the country under billions of rupees debt and at the verge of bankruptcy but now the country s economy is moving in the right direction.
The premier further said that two more dams and two new cities were being built by the government. “The greatest achievement was to save the country from bankruptcy,” he added.
Regarding political situation, he said the opposition asks them [government] to close the corruption cases, whenever government held dialogues with them, adding that the cases against the opposition leaders were registered during their own tenure.
“We have no problem and government is ready to hold talks on any issue but NRO will not be discussed,” he said and added corruption cases could not be closed.
Earlier, addressing a ceremony after inaugurating private airline company AirSial in Sialkot, he expressed concerned over the attitude of the opposition parties and said that those who had criticized the government for not observing complete lockdown are now holding public gatherings.
The premier said that now in the second wave, people again need to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) so that the pandemic could be overcome.
Pakistan is one of the few countries that better handled the pandemic in its first phase. Government’s policy of protecting the lives and livelihood of people proved quite effective, he asserted.
He further appreciated the business community over introducing their own private airline. Sialkot will become business hub in coming days, he predicted.
The PM said that industrialization and increase in exports will lead to wealth creation and enhancement of foreign exchange reserves.
Referring to China’s model of inclusive development, Imran Khan said the biggest objective of his government is to uplift the living standard of the poor and bring backward areas at par with other parts of the country.
