Mini smart lockdown imposed in Karachi's Manghopir as COVID-19 cases spike
Mini smart lockdown has been imposed for a period of two weeks from 01-10-2020 to 15-10-2020.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh government has imposed mini smart lockdown in UC-8 of Manghopir area of Karachi for a period of 15 days due to surge in coronavirus cases, Dunya News reported.
According to the notification issued by the office of Deputy Commissioner Karachi West, mini smart lockdown has been imposed for a period of two weeks from 12:00 am 01-10-2020 to 15-10-2020 till 07:00 pm.
According to the notification, the entrance of unnecessary persons was restricted, while residents are to wear face masks.
Furthermore, public transport and pillion riding have been banned along with public gatherings, while trade and commercial activities have been suspended.
Only shops selling essential items and pharmacies may remain open, while one person from a household may leave the house at a time for necessary activities.
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 5 deaths in last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 312,806. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 6,484.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 543 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
Till now 137,106 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 99,479 in Punjab, 37,811 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,611 in Islamabad, 15,281 in Balochistan, 2,731 in Azad Kashmir and 3,787 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
