Pakistan has raised Kashmir issue at every forum: DG ISPR
He said that Indian Occupied Kashmir has been under curfew for over a year
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar on Thursday said that the freedom is a great blessing and despite atrocities, Kashmiris are fighting for independence.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said that Indian Occupied Kashmir has been under curfew for over a year, adding that genocide is being done and human rights are being violated through India s state terrorism in the occupied Kashmir. “The use of pellet guns has become common place in Kashmir,” he said.
The ISPR DG said that Pakistan government has raised the issue of Kashmir at every forum, while the Kashmir issue was discussed at the UN three times a year. He said international media has also exposed Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. He said innocent Kashmiris are being killed on the name of fake counter terrorism.
Lt Gen Babar Iftikhar said that the Kashmiri mothers should be asked about the value of freedom. "Ask about the importance of freedom from the mother of an occupied Kashmir resident that buries her son with the Pakistan flag."
"Under a pre-planned, thought-out plan, India by changing the demography of the region is trying to evict the Muslims living there," Maj Gen Iftikhar said.
He said Indian illegal acts in IIOJ&K are aimed at changing the demography of the occupied territory and against all international norms.
The DG ISPR went on to say that the local political leadership of IIOJ&K is under arrest, adding that Pakistan has fully highlighted the severity of Kashmir issue at every forum and now it is being discussed all over the world.
Lt Gen Babar Iftikhar said a recent UN report has pointed out the existence of a terrorist outfit in India through which it plans its terrorist activities in neighboring countries. The Director General said resolution of Kashmir issue is the key for regional peace and even Secretary General UNGA has also stressed for it.
"It is very unfortunate that violations of the Line of Control by India continue in which unarmed, innocent civilians are being targeted," he said.
He said Pakistan is playing its conciliatory role in Afghan peace process with sincerity. Terming the peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan; he said we are the largest stakeholder of peace in Afghanistan.
The DG ISPR expressed hope that peace will be restored in Afghanistan soon through reconciliation process. He said once the peace is restored in Afghanistan, repatriation process will start in a dignified manner.
"Under Border Management policy, concrete steps are being taken along Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders to control the terrorism and smuggling of illegal goods," he said and added fencing has been completed along 1700km Pak-Afghan border awhile remaining area will be covered in a very short time.
