PM Imran said that the map reflects the aspirations of the Pakistani nation

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ahead of first anniversary of India’s illegal action of scrapping the special constitutional status of Indian Illigally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the government on Tuesday unveiled official political map of Pakistan.

The map was unveiled at a ceremony chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing the ceremony, he said that the map reflects the aspirations of the Pakistani nation, adding that the federal cabinet, opposition parties and the Kashmiri leadership have endorsed the map. This will be the official map of Pakistan from today, he said.

The Prime Minister said the new map also negates India s occupational illegal action of August 5 last year, adding that the map, which has been endorsed by the federal cabinet, is fully backed by the entire political leadership of the country. "This new official map will henceforth be used in curriculum," he said.

PM Imran Khan reiterated that implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions is the only solution to the Kashmir dispute, adding that Pakistan will continue its political and diplomatic efforts for resolution of the longstanding dispute. He hoped that we will achieve this goal one day.

The prime minister said the new map reflected the sentiments of Pakistani nation, the principled stance of Kashmiris for their just right to self-determination and clear negation of the illegal annexation by the Indian government.

The prime minister regretted that the UNSC resolutions, which had clearly assured the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination, had not been implemented so far. He also reassured the nation and the Kashmiri people that his government would continue highlighting the issue forcefully at all global fora.

Briefing on the occasion, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the honor of presenting the new map goes to PM Imran Khan.

He said that India had released the map after the illegal move on August 5, but Pakistan has rejected India s intentions.

Qureshi went on to say that the map will be used nationwide from today, adding that Pakistan today told the whole world where we stand.

Earlier, federal cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan had ratified the decision to observe Youm-e-Istehsal while the economic and political situation of the country was also reviewed.

The meeting approved the preparation and release of the official Pakistani map. The federal cabinet also approved a 13-point agenda on various issues.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed left shortly after the start of the meeting due to ill health.

Qureshi said the map clearly shows Kashmir as a disputed territory, which is required to be resolved under the UN resolutions and as per aspirations of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said India s illegal action of August 5 last year has totally been rejected in the map.

The foreign minister said it has been declared that Siachen is part of Pakistan, and we challenge India s position on it. Similarly, he said, India s claim about Sir Creek has also been rejected in the map. He said the map also shows that erstwhile FATA areas have become part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the new map has given a message that the Pakistani nation will continue supporting the Kashmiris for securing their inalienable right to self-determination.

The cabinet also approved the appointment of Deputy Governor State Bak of Pakistan (SBP) and reconstitution of the Board of Korangi Fisheries Harbor Authority.

The meeting was given detailed briefing on the performance of the National Information Technology Board, payment of dues to media houses, gas distribution projects, economic development and economic indicators.

A progress report on institutional reforms was presented in the meeting. The cabinet approved appointments of CEO of USF Company under the Ministry of IT, Chairman Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources and renewal of PIA RPT, Aerial Work and Charter License as well as approval was accorded to the charter of Pakistan Global Institute Rawat.

The cabinet also reviewed the bill for protection of domestic workers in Islamabad.

Nation to abserve Youm-e-Istehsal

The nation will observe Youm-e-Istehsal on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of India’s illegal action of scrapping the special constitutional status of Indian Illigally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. One minutes silence will be observed across the country in the morning to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution in August, last year, the Modi-led fascist Indian government continues to adhere to the policy of coercion, torture and deception to undermine the Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir by changing its demography.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday to further highlight the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom and their sufferings at the hands of Indian occupation forces.

President Dr Arif Alvi will also lead a rally on the day while all the Chief Ministers will speak at their respective assemblies to condemn Indian brutalities on the people of held valley.
